LONDON (Reuters) - Aviva <A HREF="http://go.reuters.co.uk/financeQuoteLookup.jhtml?ticker=AV.L&qtype=sym&infotype=info&qcat=news">AV.L</A> has agreed to pay $2.9 billion (1.6 billion pounds) in cash for U.S. life insurer AmerUs Group <A HREF="http://go.reuters.co.uk/financeQuoteLookup.jhtml?ticker=AMH.N&qtype=sym&infotype=info&qcat=news">AMH.N</A> in a deal that will boost its undersized presence in the United States.
